Safety Is Felt in the Body
Monday January 26, 2026
Today I want to talk about safety—not the kind we think about logically, but the kind your body feels (or doesn’t).
In the mind–body world, safety is closely linked to the Root Chakra. This energy center is connected to your sense of stability, belonging, and trust in life. When it feels supported, the body can soften. When it doesn’t, the body stays alert—even when there’s no immediate danger.
Many of the people I work with don’t feel “anxious” in the traditional sense.
Instead, they experience things like:
• Tension in the hips, pelvis, or low back
• Digestive discomfort
• Fatigue mixed with restlessness
• A constant need to be “on” or braced
These aren’t random symptoms. They’re often signs of a nervous system stuck in protection mode.
Fear doesn’t always show up as panic.
Sometimes it shows up as control, over-responsibility, or difficulty resting.
From an osteopathic and nervous system perspective, the body will always prioritize survival over healing. That’s why safety can’t be forced—it has to be felt.
A simple reflection for today:
Where in my body do I feel the need to hold on?
What might that part of me be protecting?
Just notice. No fixing required.
In this week’s YouTube video, I go deeper into how fear lives in the body, how the root chakra connects to the nervous system, and how to gently rebuild a felt sense of safety.
