I Wasn’t Just Checking My Phone

Wednesday February 4th, 2026

This month I’m reflecting on my relationship with my phone.

Not dramatically.
Just honestly.

I noticed I was checking my messages constantly — not because I needed to, but because my body felt like it needed to.

And then my body started speaking.

My right shoulder tightened.

The right side is often associated with the masculine — the doing, anticipating, performing side.

And that’s exactly how my phone use felt.

Not connecting.
Scanning.
Waiting.
Preparing.

Every time I checked, there was a subtle spike of anticipation.

“Did he text?”
“Is there something I need to respond to?”

That’s not relaxation.
That’s readiness.

This month I invite you to ask:

What does your body do when you reach for your phone?

Because your phone isn’t the problem.

But your nervous system might be asking for attention.
